Anything I should know before I do a flyback replacement on a trayloading iMac?

I bought a new flyback for my iMac G3 grape (rev c), and was just wondering if there's anything I should know about before replacing the flyback.

I have left it off for about 2 weeks (although I'll discharge it anyway), and I've already taken it apart several times, so anything I should remember/shouldn't forget?

Also does anyone know any easy tutorials on replacing it (like where the correct wires go, etc)?

The Apple service guide for your model of iMac should include the procedure to follow. Take pictures as you go and use a tray for screws. Good luck.

I found service manuals but neither show how to replace the flyback.

To my knowledge no, there's nothing specific other than to note the orientation of the the original flyback, and I'd also guess to make sure your solder joints are good and the rest of the board is in good condition too.

Awesome. Yeah the flyback only goes in one way anyway, and as far as I know the whole iMac is working fine aside from the stupid flyback

And don't electrocute yourself. That time you did off the compact Mac PSU doesn't compare to what a CRT will do to you.

Yeah good point, hence keeping it unplugged for like 2 weeks and always discharging to my house's ground point outside.

Just gave it a go - Success! Will upload pics later.
Needed to buy a new 80W soldering iron and some 3mm wick, and it worked!

Thanks @Phipli - I was shaking a bit when I turned it on!
