A1038 Cinema Display - Ring Around Screen

Hi everyone,

Just came into possession of an A1038. Seems to work ok, stays on, backlight works. However, there is what appears to be this visual ring with two humps around the image, distorting the colors. Is this an LCD problem, or is some sort of moisture or other issue getting between layers causing this...that could be corrected by separating and cleaning, say, the antiglare layer?

Seems very regular - is that something structural showing through?

Very regular indeed. I am going to open it up and take a look...but ive never experienced that before.

I have the exact same model with a very similar issue, not quite as prominent as yours. I've never figured out the cause but I have observed that it gets less severe when the display is fully warmed up.
