A gold hockey puck mouse

Modified I think, either a new ball and the one plastic moulding, or a new ball and a painted part. It has genuine apple parts by the look of it.

If I was making them, I'd paint them, and the brand name on the side would be done with a heated stamp (quite literally branding). It would be way cheaper to use extremely good paint than to make new plastic parts in small quantities.

The colourful plastic side "skins" are trivial to remove

Macway was (is?) a peripheral maker akin to Macally/Mathey. Presumably they offered replacement mouse "skins".
