8100/100 and Jackhammer and Video Vision Nubus cards

Hi everyone,

I´m trying to configure a myself a vintage video editing mac :)

What would be the best os system for this? For now the machine runs on 9.1. But strangely if I try to install system 7.5 on my second internal 2gb hd, which should be the system it was shipped with, it won´t boot.....startup disk runs on 9.1

If I plug a 2GB hd into my jackhammer SCSI card, the computer doesn´t shut down properly and power itself off. But if I use the onboard scsi interface everything runs fine. Finally I unplugged the jackhammer again. Do I have to update the firmware?

Thanks for any suggestions

It would be hard to imagine anything more similar to my Radius 81/110 project. I've finally gotten it upgraded to the Radius System 100 standard, so I'll be getting my JackHammer into action before too long.

Pretty sure I had the JackHammer up and running in the past with a pair of 2.5" Savvio SCA Server Drives in the external Radius StudioArray box. It's supporting its end of the AppleDsiplayUnit, but I can at least get the machine up and running to let you know OS spec and maybe the driver rev. but it'll take a little time. Way too much junk in the way and piled on every available work surface ATM. :-/

Hi,
are you suggesting to install the Radius 81/110 image on my machine?

My Studio Vision Card only has this breakout-box for im- and exporting video and audio signals.

Your 8100 and my 81/110 are basically the same Cold Fusion architecture machine. The only real difference is that Radius built theirs like a tank with a huge PSU and dumped that stupid video connector Apple adopted for the x100 series, sticking with the conventional DA-19 port.

I'll get you my OS and JackHammer driver specs when I get a chance in about a week or so. I've been setting it up for the same purpose you have, but it's tricked out the rest of the way to be the Photoshop behemoth System 100 bundle.

Similar system specs:

Radius 81/110 vs. your 8100/100

FWB JackHammer

VideoVision/Studio Upgrade with the same breakout box you have

Differences: everymac on the high end version of the System 100: "110 MHz PowerPC 601 processor, 72 MB of RAM, a 2.0 GB hard drive, and a Radius Thunder IV GX*1600 video card." add a couple of high performance tweaks of my own and there you have it.

So we're doing the same thing with the same VidCap setup on almost the same machine. That's why I said we should compare notes on OS and driver suitability.

Do you have termination set properly when you install the 2 GB drive? Have you gotten the Jackhammer to work with any drive?

My Radius 81/110 is a Media 100 setup.

For the Videovision (not Telecast) I think you need something like OS 7.5.5 or 7.6.1.

I could initilialize, format, write and read from my 2GB drive.

But when I turn my system off, the screen just went black and nothing else happened.

Unfortunately I didn´t have a terminator to for that scsi cable where the drive was hooked on.

Maybe that is causing the shutdown problem.

@Unknown_K: on macintoshgarden.org seems to be a installation disk of the 81/100 system. When I´ll try that when I have more time.

@Trash80toHP_Mini: it would be really great, if you could send me your system files. Thanks in advance....
