7100 dead now

So another 7100, another problem. This board worked before recap. I put organic polymer caps on it, and repasted cpu. I just did the same thing to a 6100/66 bought in the same purchase and it works perfectly. I have tried different psu and no difference, just dead. Any idea on this one? These boards so sensitive it seems.

You mentioned that you repasted the CPU - hopefully this isn’t the problem, but my understanding is that the 601s are extremely fragile and are easy to crack the die when reinstalling the heatsink. I’d try to check other issues first (power/ground shorts, proper voltages, etc, visual inspection especially around the caps you replaced), as you don’t want to remove the heatsink again if you don’t need to. If all else fails, you might need to take the heatsink off again and inspect the CPU die for cracks or chips.

Thanks for the info. Yeah i know the fragility of the 601’s. The paste was really gone and was hard to clean off with isopropyl so maybe it ran hot for awhile before i owned it? recapping went well so cant see it being caps. I will attach a video which may or may not blow your mind. Its a different 7100 but check it out as it still turns on in that state.
