7 PowerBooks from recycler

Some of you might remember the first time I went to the computer recycler (then called the bastard recycler) and paid $30 each for old junk PowerBooks.

I refused to buy anymore and he decided to trot them out today and I got him down to $12 a PowerBook. 4 x 1xx and a PowerPC Upgraded 5xx (a major reason why I bought the lot).

I also got two incomplete Pismos for $35 total. I think I can get one whole Pismo out of the two.

I also picked up a really shitty 7500/100 (amongst some other desktops) that has a G3 400/1 MB card. I'm probably going to part out the 7500 because the case is really poor.

He had a nice looking 933 MHz QS but I think his boss had him take it to the back because it was too nice. Probably it will sit around and then I'll buy it next week for $50, or something like that.

Nice. I have a 540 (upgraded 520) that's used as my webserver

Although it's not a PowerPC, it functions great with a 33Mhz 68LC040 that Bunsen pointed out in another thread.

It's also now got a color screen :D

How'd the 5xx with powerpc come out for a screen? is it color/Active-Matrix?

I like the screen on mine, at least when I last used it. It's running my website again :p

Anyways, 'grats on the haul! nice one.

BTW, i had a PowerMacintosh 7500. I don't think they were so bad. It ran OS X with a G4 MACharrier and was great about it. If you don't part it out, try getting a Radeon, a USB 2.0/FW400 card and a network card. That will help things out a bit :D

The 7500 I got yesterday was really rusty and brittle so I decided to part it out today. The motherboard has rust on it and is probably gone. The G3 processor looks OK though.

I have a ton of other 7500s here anyway so it doesn't matter much. I have a 7300 which is my personal 7xxx machine that I have set up with a Radeon 7000. It was running Jaguar on the stock HD, but recently I came across one of those Sonnet ATA/66 cards so I'd like to soup it up with that some time.
