68-pin to 50-pin adapters question

Hi guys,

Most of us use this kind of 68-pin to 50-pin adapter:

(both ends are male)

They aren't that expensive, but I have found cheapers models of that kind :

(both ends are female)

My question is : will the latter work if plugged bewteen a mac 68k mobo and a 68-pin scsi flatcable?

That's not quite exactly what it's intended to do. It should work fine in a vertical connector, but I don't know about a horizontal one.

I've got one of these, it'll make it easy for the CD-ROM in the Radius 81/110 to live in harmony with adapted SCA Drives, all using the narrower 68 pin internal cables.

Actually, that's exactly what I'm doing in my PowerMac 6100. I've got two female 50pin to 68pin connectors (one of the motherboard and the other on the CD-ROM drive) using a 68-pin SCSI cable.That way I could use one of my 68pin 4GB Compaq SCSI drives and partition it with both Mac OS and MkLlinux and it works great.
