512k Hyperdrive Gamble on eBay

I'd like to revive an old thread. I don't want to hijack.

snuci, did you manage to boot from that Hard Drive on the Hyperdrive20?

I found a guy on ebay who has one. He toasted the AB by using 220v instead of 110v.... Would like to know if the Hyperdrive 20 (rev1) had a fuse.

Fortunately olePigeon traced back Michael Fryer, VP of Engineering for GCC for an interview. I asked if the Hyperdrive 20 (rev1 because I know rev2 from 1986 is) was protected in case such thing happened. There is a fuse on the Additional Analog Board on the rev2 version. But what about the rev1 from 1985?

We're waiting for his answers but maybe Mr Fryer doesn't remember...

snuci, could you have a look at your Hyperdrive Analog Board on your Hyperdrive20 if you still have it? Would really appreciate it.  :)

The Hyperdrive is a beast of a machine!

Belatedly, thanks for this thread! As I posted elsewhere, I just lucked out gambling on a mystery machine that turned out to be a working 512K with (booting) Hyperdrive. I haven't attempted to take the machine apart to examine it further, but I will likely be revisiting this thread from time to time as I figure out how to take care of this nice little computer.

(I was lucky - it was apparently very well cared for and whoever stored it back in 1980-whatever even had enough sense to remove the battery!)

Sorry, I was going to take a look today but didn't get a chance.  I have two Rev 1's, one that has a bad hard drive that I am pretty sure I bought a replacement drive for.  I'll double check if I have any pictures first but if not, I'll take it apart in the next day or two.  I don't recall a fuse but I'll check.

I did transplant a HyperDrive but I think it was a version 2.0 like the one BadGoldEagle mentioned.  Checking my previous pics, I have not taken out an original Hyperdrive power supply before.  I would guess they would be very similar though.
