$50 G4 Cube!

I just got back from my latest conquest: A 500 MHz G4 Cube! I guess the guy was desperate for rent money, so he told me if I picked it up tonight, I would get it for $50 instead of $75. It also came with a 15" Studio Display with a broken foot. Sounds like it was just sitting and not getting used, so I'm glad I could give it a good home. [:D] ]'>

Holy crap! Sweet!

I paid $200 for my 450 MHz Cube, and $30 more for my 17" Studio Display. Sold it for $325.

I sold it 'cause I needed money, and it was just sitting around here not being used, after I got my Quicksilver. I figured it'd prolly be better going to someone who could actually use it. Ended up selling it to a first-time Mac owner.

Hope you like yours!

Wow, that's a good deal. Cubes, even non-working ones, generally sell for around £100 in the UK.

Even though I secretly despise you for this conquest, nice conquest! :p

(Just kidding. It usually just so happens that whenever someone makes an awesome conquest, there's always that one person that teems with envy and posts with the proverbial "I HATE YOU!!!11!1!!". :p )

Nice, QuadSix50.

Yeah, I felt guilty (about the price) for a while on the way home, but my buddy talked me down. What do you say to people who are selling their stuff dirt cheap and you want to buy it? [:I] ]'>

[update]: Since it didn't come with speakers, I plugged in my Creative SoundBlaster USB I/O device and now I've got sound thru regular computer speakers. Pretty slick. The box for the SoundBlaster said it would not work with Macs. I don't think the folks at Creative are big fans of Apple.

dude, I want one.

I don't know if anyone has heard of Leer Corporation, but they are headquartered around here, and about 4 years ago, my boy scout troop had the duty of collecting bottles from them for deposits. In the lobby of the HQ, was a cube as a welcome center machine. I wanted that one so bad. They have since moved into a larger building, so I wonder if they kept it or it got thrown in the trash.

-digital ;)

$50 is an awesome price for any Cube. The only thing that could make it better is if it had a flawless case. The molding process used for the plastics wasn't perfect and they frequently show flaws.

Yeah, it's not flawless by any means and it's got a few minor scratches. I think the power supply jack is a little touchy too. It's gonna replace my iMac G3 OS X Server.
