Update time with pics (finally) of progress if that's what you call it:
The 40MB HDD that was in the SE did me the favor of booting her right up on the first try. After that it died deader 'n a doornail, probably stiction. Pretty sure the one time this SE was opened up it was to replace the first HDD to die in there. The drive access LED rig was never put back in place, gotta get or make one.
Having only 7.1 on 1.44 Floppies available, I searched about for a hard drive that would boot the thing. One tried, but I was informed that 1MB of RAM just wouldn't cut it. Searched for 1MB SIMMs in the big 'ole box of memory and finally found some. Of course I forgot about the dang resistor, it's only been 29 years since I did this the first time. Tore it down again and took the head of R35 for my trophy wall. Still wouldn't boot off any of the drives so I decided to set one up on the SE/30 testbed. Pulled the 7.6.1 install's System apart and did the floppy shuffle with the 7.1 set. Now it boots both SE/30 and SE.
Couldn't find a MOLEX Y-cable, so if all you've got is a hammer . . .
. . . kind of fitting, I used the Radius StudioArray that's normally hooked up to the JackHammer as my aux. power supply.
The first time I assembled SE, Radius 16 Accelerator and Radius TPD card the startup BING was conspicuously absent, so I pulled the TPD card and it booted to the Accelerator's splash screen. Figured it was all the cabling bunched up behind the card so I worked out a fix:
Went together and booted to the Accelerator screen again, hooked up the new HDD for testing:
No drivers for the Accelerator or TPD card yet, but thought I'd go for the splash screen:
I used a pair of F<->F header jumper wires to connect the headers on the TPD Card to the proper(?) pins on the HD-15 VGA end of the 5-BNC cable connected to my Radius PrecisionView 2150. I used the
HD-15 cable pinout.ru and was hoping for legacy support, but so far no joy on the splash screen.
But a CD full of Radius drivers came with the second TPD card I snagged. Tried to use the CD 300, but needed drivers for that! Annoying pattern emerging here.
Hooked up the Zip Drive I thought I might have killed the last time I tried to use it and sure enough it hung the system. Dead mouse cursor at the Accelerator splash screen. On a lark, decided to try powering it up
after the system booted. Luckily I'd pre-loaded Iomega Guest along with TattleTech when I did the 7.1 install. When I tried to run it with the bad drive hooked up . . .
KABLOOEY!!!!!!!
Not exactly the splash screen I was looking for, but shrapnel damage at TPD res. will do for now! [

I knew the TPD card was pulling the PrecisionView2150 out of sleep by its powerup sound and that it was syncing up due to the steady power indication. Maybe all I really do need are the drivers?
Radius TPD/SE BNC->Monitor connection woes . . .
