2003 17" iMac G4

Well, it finally came yesterday! My new-to-me 2003 iMac G4. I swear, the damn thing looks brand new. It is the 17" model, which looks nice next my eMac. The keyboard isn't yellowed, but has wear. Mouse and speakers look brand new, and the iMac is is physically good condition over all. When I got it the front bezel was snapped off a little, but it snapped right back in.

Paid a healthy $200 with shipping for it, ONLY because it had EVERYTHING it came with from the factory including the original box. The modem cable was even brand new along with the Hardware Test disc (reinstall disc has been used before). I downgraded from 10.4.11 to the original 10.2.3 that was on the restore disc and played with it for a little while, then upgraded to 10.5. Anyway, here are the specs:

1 GHz PowerPC G4

768MB of RAM (256 internal DIMM, 512 via the user accessible SODIMM)

original 80GB Seagate (Apple Certified) 7200RPM HDD

AirPort Extreme Wireless Card

10.5.8 Leopard

Should serve you well. I have a 15" 1GHz iMac G4 myself (though I have 1.25GB of RAM in it, and next time I'm inside the base I'll replace the factory RAM and put it to a full 2GB).

I have been testing it and it runs very well! No major problems.

Thats the last model of the iMac G4's with USB 2.0 right? Thats what I was looking for originally, that or an original model with OS 9, but I'm glad I bought this one. Hoping to get many lovable years with this iMac. This is my absolute favorite iMac (3rd favorite Mac) made!

Correct (PowerMac6,1). The only bad thing about the iMac G4s is that they have a pathetically small amount of L2 cache. 512K would have helped a _lot_. But I like the G4 pro speakers, it has lots of ports, it fits on my desk and it's really neat looking.

That model is an classic! The design is still quite striking.

I recently got an 17" 800mhz model and i love it. Looks better with widescreen display.

For a while, I had the pair of the first 17" iMac G4 (which has the distinction of being the last "primary line" system capable of booting into OS 9 - only the "revived" Classic-bootable 1.25 GHz Power Mac G4 and the education-market eMac could boot OS 9 and were introduced later,) and the white Core 2 Duo 17" iMac next to each other. The first and last 17" iMacs. (That you can see in my thread about them.)
