I own a 14-yr-old Macintosh Centris 610, and with it a 14-yr-old Hewlett Packard DeskWriter, the first printer type in the Hp series. I recently started up my Centris and connected the printer to it. I wasn't sure what to do at first, because the list of printers didn't match mine. So I ended up clicking ImageWriter, then typing something on Word, and clicking Print. And although the DeskWriter has no cartridge inside, it made a sudden noise and made as if to print. Obviously, it must've realized it lacked a cartridge, because it stopped after it had positioned the paper. This is normal behavior, I hope?
Anyway, that's beside my point. I was looking online for the cartridge that my printer could use, and I got 2 choices: #25 (color ink) and #26 (black ink). I only need 26, seeing as I'll only be printing in black. But just in case someone here owns a similar printer, is this the right cartridge to go with? Where is a good place to get one cheaply? (The Hp website puts it at $30, and I don't want to spend that much).
Thanks,
