    SuperMac Thunder/24 Help?

So I’ve got this SuperMac Thunder/24 which seems to almost work properly. It installs, boots, throws a video signal, etc. I downloaded the drivers from the Macintosh Garden and the Control Panel works with all the extra widgets and stuff. The only issue is that if the cursor goes onto the...

    PowerCenter Pro 60MHz Bus

You might just want to trade the Sonnet for a different brand. I have a 350Mhz PowerLogix G4 card in my 7300 that has DIP switches for selectable bus speeds, etc., so I think it can be configured for, say, 60Mhz bus and 360 MHz clock. Here’s an eBay auction for one with a nice picture of the...

Floppy disks not working on other Macs?

No, I didn't - almost every video I watched on Youtube before I set about my first attempt warned specifically against doing that. Although some of the drives have been through multiple hands so I guess I can't guarantee somebody didn't. I'll do some more methodical testing and try to isolate...

Floppy disks not working on other Macs?

So I’ve cleaned and lubed a few floppy drives now, and I’m running into a weird issue. I have a stash of old floppy disks (1.4MB and 800k) but all of them show this so I think it’s the drives. (?) Basically if I format a disk it’ll work on that drive. I can copy data to and from it, etc. But...

    PM7200: these hard drives suitable?

I have an SCA-80 drive in my 7300 right now with an adapter similar to that; although it was purchased with the drive from Other World back in the late '90s. Unlike the adapter in the pic, mine has onboard termination. Maybe that's your issue?

Mac Plus video issue / question

Yeah, unless your CRT is absolutely screwed that’s gotta be analog board. If you haven’t yet, find a PDF copy of the Dead Mac Scrolls; it includes a list of symptoms, and the troubleshooting steps for each. Archive.org will have it when they’re back up, there are other places in the meantime...

    PM7200: these hard drives suitable?

A lot of PPC-era Macs had internal IDE, so the need for a Blue/ZuluSCSI is greatly reduced. Anything with internal IDE is absolutely better off with an off the shelf PATA SSD, IMHO. My G4 tower, I have one of those as well as a CF card in a PATA adapter and both are rock solid. That said, since...

    PM7200: these hard drives suitable?

I’d add - BlueSCSI can be picky about SD cards and a lot of the IDE/ATA SD/HD adapters are too. Anecdotally it seems like the cheap cards that work fine in a camera might not always be good enough to work reliably as a hard drive. I’ve seen everything from glitchy performance to random system...

    Mac II Case Label Restore

I'd probably dig up a copy of the "Apple Garamond" font and hit up my local makerspace for recommendations on a good silkscreener who takes low-volume weird custom work. That would be the ideal, I think. A clear decal would be "good enough" but you'd know. YOU'D KNOW.

    Plastic Bracket Repair Tips

Putting this in here be a use the bracket in question is from a 7300, and is far more brittle than others I’ve seen, but this is a more general question. As you can see in the attached photos I had a drive sled where all of the flex-tabs snapped off like they were made from the finest crystal...

Making a replacement grounding clip from a floppy shutter

Other than the fact that I have some scrap metal out in the garage I'd probably use first, that looks totally fine. Around here dead floppy disks are saved for art projects. My end goal is an epoxy pour coffee table that's a 5x12 grid of alternating white and blue floppy disks. Maybe a row of...

Adapter to use internal compact Mac screen?

Yes, I meant route to the analog board. Sorry. That's interesting. Thank you.

Adapter to use internal compact Mac screen?

I know that some of the youtubers have hacked the video signal from the motherboard to a A/D converter. So I'd assume it's a relatively standard signal type. Honest question here: is there a reason you can't just go the other way - take, say, the green signal line from an analog signal and...

Radius 81/110 Mac Runs won’t shut down

Two things come to mind - power button stuck and power supply has something wrong with the soft power circuit. I'd inspect the PSU and see if it's time for a recap.

    ADB splitter?

I might be talking out of my behind here, but I think that double arrow means "straight through wired" (pin 1 to pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc.) and isn't specific to serial cables.

    Networking issues w/ IIsi/7.5.3

Fixed! I had been, for instance, looking at the packet transmit count on the switch port, which went to a few and stopped. I had been waiting either for DHCP to pull an IP, or trying to ping the manually assigned address. However, you actually gave me the brain-kernel to figure it. Thinking it...

    Networking issues w/ IIsi/7.5.3

Well the tester ran but it thinks the NIC is ok. ID’d it as device 9 and said it passed the NIC tests. Is there a particular test(s) I should run to verify that oscillator is working right?

    ADB splitter?

Well I built one and it works great! Could be prettier but I glued the plug together because I did all the soldering forgetting the sleeve first. Wasn’t going to take it apart and start again. Blah. Thanks for the advice! 🤓
