Where you have an air-cooled G5 with working logic board, etc, fan problems can mainly be resolved by replacing heatsink compound and (ideally) subsequent recalibration of the fans by means of the available service utility. My dual 2.3 is whisper quiet even under load.

Why would you do that, given how well the stock fans perform?
