Good point, though I haven't come across any references yet suggesting so.

So while its always possible that the combo drive in my laptop may have a different circuit...
More of a hardware "repair" than a hack. I was getting tired of how my cheap Philips CD-Rs just wouldn't work in my PowerBook G4 no matter what speed I burned them. So it got me thinking, the reason why game consoles (esp. GameCubes) often stop reading discs is because the laser's POT...
I believe there's an option under the "view" menu. When on the Finder there should be something like "view options" where you can change the behavior of opening folders. (Can't remember which version it was introduced in.)
As for dual pane file manager, a search resulted to Greg's Browser...
My little brother's LC580 is housing a PowerMac/Performa 52xx/53xx board. (Can't exactly remember which it was.)
So yeah, there are a lot of logic board that will fit in this "little" guy.
Edit: basically, if it fits and the connectors inside align, it should work just fine. ;)
It take a little work, but I've used SheepShaver on my PBG4 and got AppleTalk working well within Mac OS X Tiger. (Guide works for Leopard/Lion too, I think I used IPNetShareX instead of IPNetRouterX.)
If you can share Netatalk's current settings, maybe we can figure out why metadata isn't...
What I was trying to say, Netatalk is suppose to be able to handle the metadata, regardless whether you're using HFS/+ or not on the Ubuntu server.

If Netatalk isn't preserving the metadata, it may be possible that something was...
Finally uploaded the covers (plus a couple articles, ads, etc,) for the computers magazines.

(Also tried to get some better pics of the Apple I article.)
I've yet to setup my own netatalk server, but it seems like netatalk would have some way to preserve the resource fork/metadata?

Oh yeah, there's a small stack of COMPUTE in the second box as well. With lots of bookmarks from the previous owner. ;)
I'll try to take some more pics during the weekend.
Someone dropped off several boxes of Vintage Magazines at my local video game shop, the owner didn't want them so I took them off his hands. (I still need to go back and get another 2 boxes as soon as I have the room for them.)
First box was a nearly complete collection of Kilobaud...
Haha, that's so cool. :) I'd be half tempted to do morse code and see if anyone replies. :p That or set it up so it does different hues for different hours of the day. 8-)
Technically this would be something you'd post on a blog, as most people on the forum already know about dougg3's project. You should also post a link to the original topic so people can look at the conversation themselves. (That way you're not drawing attention away from dougg3's topic.)
I found at least one motherboard that works. :D (The other two I think are dead.)
If you are also interested, I have some RAM, Apple Cache card and L2 cache. I'll boot it up from a hard drive and see how large the RAM is and the L2 cache is. ($5 more for the RAM and cache?)
PM me and let me...
The original CPU has to be working in order for the G3 upgrade card to work. (As it is only enabled via an extension.)
I've got a couple 6100 motherboards maybe an extra PSU laying around. If you're interested I can fire them up and see if they still work. ;)
Oh, looks like I completely forgot about this topic too. :p
Since my last post, I've attempted in recapping my Classic II, which utterly failed. (I lifted like 3-4 solder pads, turns out the Classic II was notorious for weak pads.) And since my LCIII is also not functioning (most likely in...
