Pretty much the only exception to that rule for me is when the computer is an observed collectable: The price for resale exceeds the value of the computer based on it's capabilities. But at that point the computer stops being a tool and becomes a collector's item. My TAM is a case in point...
Personally, I don't hold stock in the idea that a computer deserves any more respect than any other tool. Put a rock through it for all I care. (Or don't and donate it to charity - it would be a shame to destroy a tool just because you can when another person might get some use from it.)
That...
Er, all Hook models up to the 580 had 14" Trinitrons in them that easily match and surpass the quality of the Color Classic's display. The 580 had a shadow mask tube. The 580 was also based on the 630 motherboard (IDE hard drives, shared DRAM for video). However, the 580 does allow the...
I have GOT to get this game... Anybody have any leads on where I can pick up a copy legally (or if not legally, at least with a clear conscience)?
Peace,
Drew
The desktop folder is invisible in OS 9. But it should copy if you drag the disk icon to the destination and hold down option. This forces the Mac to do a copy instead of make an alias.
There's no technical reason (aesthetic ones abound, though) for why you shouldn't keep files in your...
I don't think it is blasphemy. I put PowerPC upgrades in my 68ks for the same reason I enjoy collecting 68ks. They are rare and unique pieces of hardware.
If 68k Macs are to be treasured for their design and uniqueness, then so to should be the orders of magnitude rarer cards which are...
Nope. But you might get lucky and find a SCSI one. I know I've seen SCSI ATA Flash and Compact Flash readers, but I don't recall seeing SD, XD, or MMD readers...

So how did you determine your card is a D-Link DFE-530TXE?
Is this the same card you were talking about having Delta LANF7236G printed on it in Powermac 6500 slow?
Peace,
Drew
What the heck are you talking about? First of all, you can definitely run AppleTalk over ethernet and TCP/IP over ethernet simultaneously. Secondly, the OP's problem is that he doesn't have drivers for his ethernet PCI card... No amount of fiddling with the AppleTalk or TCP/IP control panel...
In the 5500, 6500, and TAM, Apple somehow managed to break the ability of dual-function PCI cards to ... function. The design is incompatible with PCI bridge chips. As a consequence, all dual-function cards (USB/FireWire, for instance) do not work without special software.
I don't know about...
What browser did you use to download it? Those files are MacBinary encoded, and most PCs can't figure out what to do with that file. Downloading on a modern Mac browser should be okay. Safari (on a Mac) should have no trouble with it.
Peace,
Drew
