    IIcx leaked caps - salvageable?

A few weeks ago I obtained a Macintosh IIcx. While it boots (as indicated by the HDD activity light), there is no sound or video. Removing the motherboard revealed numerous leaking capacitors. I don't know much about this kind of stuff, I'm not sure whether any of the traces are damaged. Perhaps...

    Homebrew PRAM Batteries

N00b question: What is the connector called that connects the battery to the pins on the logic board? I'd like to not splice wires if at all possible.

    Mac IIcx ©1988

it was likely designed in '88. most Apple logic boards and ASIC's have copyright dates that are one or more years before the actual machine's debut to the market.

    PCI SCSI controller

Hey guys. It's been a while since I've done anything with vintage Macs, but I need some advice regarding linux and hardware. I have 2 hard disk drives from an SGI/IRIX machine that I want to image/clone. The drives are ultra-wide SCSI with an SCA connector. The only logical way to do this, that...

mac modem>pc serial, getting the SE online

FWIW, USR Courier modems can be configured for leased-line access - meaning connect the two modems together directly with a phone cord and they'll establish a link. No additional hardware/software required. You can find them pretty cheap on eBay. There are Mac modem cables which have Mini-DIN8...

Bumping this thread because I plan on testing this on my Sil3112 card. I've had this card for ages and am gonna try it in a G4. I googled the flash chip and apparently it has a 1 Mbit capacity.

Internal SCSI ZIP 100, as Main (Hard Drive) For Vintage Mac

I know the Iomega drivers have a setting which allows you to disable eject on shutdown/restart.

    HDD alternatives?

Where are you finding these $20 SCSI drives? On eBay they are typically between $50-$100. No way I'd spend that kind of money on something that doesn't have much usable life left. Adapting modern storage technologies to work on older interfaces makes much more sense, in my opinion.

Connecting 68k Macs to LCD Monitors

Although I haven't tested on a 68k, I hooked a PowerBook 3400c to an ASUS V198 20" LCD monitor (which I bought new this year) and seems to work well.

    PB3400c and Mac SE

Hey guys! I've been out of the Mac scene for a while now. Lots going on, and I've run out of room for my collection (most of my macs are now in a storage unit). However I recently picked up some new items and it has rekindled my vintage Mac interests. The first is a Mac SE Superdrive which I...

    StyleWriter M8000

Well the StyleWriters are QuickDraw printers, so even if you get the physical connections working, it will be very difficult if not impossible to print from a non-OS 9 Mac or a PC. I'm not aware of any solutions that would allow you to do this.
