If you could only have one: SE/30 or Mystic CC?

Well, I'd say keep the Mystic CC....but what should should do is keep the SE/30 and then sell me the mystic board. ;-)

    PowerBook 2400c Backup battery

Thanks for the info. Seems like mine is dead. My main battery does hold a charge (for nearly a half hour in basic testing!) but removing battery and power adapter results in the machine dying, and losing time and everything.  I've found one place still selling the pram/clock batteries (for...

    PowerBook 2400c Backup battery

I'm going to add to this thread rather than start a new one. Also on my 2400, I have a PCMCIA -> Compact Flash adapter. The CF card is formatted Mac OS Extended, so I can transfer files with my OS X Mac. I have tried in 8.5, 8.5.1, and 8.6, and trying to copy anything larger than a text...

    PowerBook 2400c Backup battery

I've recently acquired a PowerBook 2400. It's delightful. I have come across several posts about the Green Light of Death and it's relation to the the backup battery, but also posts talking about the difficulty of finding/replacing it. Can anyone else who has owned one speak to how important...

Professional services that rebuild lithium battery packs

I know this post is old, but figured I'd try: did you get your 2400 battery from batteryrefill.com ? I recently acquired a 2400 and am toying with getting the battery recelled.  Thanks!

Trying to remember SCSI CD-ROM drive, Battery powered

I’m also confident it was not a major brand (like Sony or Panasonic), because I remember it being “cheap” and I rationalized to myself how it would be discman AND a cdrom....but it never did either very well.

Trying to remember SCSI CD-ROM drive, Battery powered

It’s not far from the Panasonic, but that wasn’t it....the rear portion was almost as long as the discman front half. SCSI2 for sure though.   Its funny how im so used to everything being a quick search away. If I had a mac mall catalog from the time....

Trying to remember SCSI CD-ROM drive, Battery powered

And it's not the PowerCD, I should have mentioned. Though I still want one of those.

Trying to remember SCSI CD-ROM drive, Battery powered

When I was a young Mac-head I recall saving paper route money to buy a SCSI CD-ROM drive that had 2 parts. One could be a standard battery powered audio CD player, and a rear section that took MORE AA's (I think 6 more AAs?) and had the SCSI ports on it.  When put together it sort of look...

    Retr0Bright Questions

I did my first retrobrighting this summer. I used the creme and covered in plastic. I think part of 8 bit guy's success has to do w/ texas sun; as someone in the great north woods even in the heat of summer I had trouble getting even results. It looks better than the yellow to me, but definitely...

    iBook G4 - Mac OS 9 "Universal" - 256 colors

Yes, it doesn’t change. I think it must be some limitation, I’ve come across a post with info on editing some ati driver extensions but a quick glance in ResEdit was not clear to me.

    iBook G4 - Mac OS 9 "Universal" - 256 colors

This is a fairly specific question...I've got an iBook G4 running on the Mac OS 9 "universal" install, for Macs that don't officially support booting into OS 9.  I'm trying to set the screen to 256 colors (to run some living books), but there's no options other than Millions. I've tried...

    Snuci's Finds...

A $50 color classic? Nice find! I had a Presto 040 in my Color Classic back when it was current hardware, I remember it being a nice boost.

1400 owners input - Keyboard - How is it?

This is a silly question, but I've never used a 1400. I have a PowerBook Duo 280 for my vintage PowerBook-ing, but I really don't like the keyboard. (I owned a 280c about 20 years ago, and I guess I forgot how far mobile keyboards have come.) Is the 1400 keyboard that much better than a duo...

New guy with a "Mac Plus" music player

One more note: the LCD I used was an eBay special, called "Totevision LED-1003HD 9.7" LCD Monitor", it's 1024x768 and can do VGA / HDMI / BNC in.  I bought it because it was cheap, but it has a horizontal and vertical zoom control, which I've never seen on a cheap LCD before. By shrinking with...

New guy with a "Mac Plus" music player

Thanks! I also colored the silver front of the mini black so it looks a little bit more like the dark depths of a drive when there's nothing in the slot. Kind of.  I should probably get a clearer pic.
