Yes, that is what normally happens when the programmer's switch is pressed during startup. If you press the button before the monitor comes on you will get the chimes of death on Macs that have them, and the display will not work until you restart without pressing the button. If you press the...
Thank you! :) I'll give MacTools a try, and I posted on the Macintosh Garden forums. Nobody's replied yet, which doesn't surprise me since the games are so obscure.
Hi all!
Again, it's been a billion years or so since I've posted. Life is absolutely insane at the moment so I have virtually no time for anything I'm interested in.
There's some games on my Performa that I had as a toddler, and for the life of me I cannot find them anywhere. They're pretty...
Thank you! That will definitely come in handy. :)
I was thinking that a charger's included but was confused by an included picture, so I'm not exactly sure of what's really going to be included. It's always good to plan for the worst when confused (which is something I'm very used to, LOL). I...
The 9.x discs I have are from one of my iMac G3s (coincidentally also Indigo) so if yours worked I should be good to go. :) It's good to know a form of 10 is an option for this iBook, if I ever get bored with having two 9.x systems I'll try to get my paws on some 10 discs. What's the max...
I've been accepted into college, so I decided to splurge and treat myself to something that's been on my wishlist for quite a while. This iBook is now headed my way! Only problem is, it doesn't come with a charger and the listing said the battery's toast. I'd like to hunt down an original...
Problem solved! DiskCopy 6.3.3 is running great, and I'm now emulating a Color Classic II running System 7.6. :D Now, do I want to upgrade to 7.6.1? That's the question.
I'm needing Disk Copy for the System 7.6.x install images I found. I'm needing to update the OS 'cause Toast seems to hate my setup and Virtual DVD-ROM/CD Utility apparently won't run on any version lower than 7.6. I'm trying to get a game CD image I found in .toast format to mount so I can...
Nope, it's not the Disk Copy that came with 7.5.3. And the virtual hard drive is a boot disk I downloaded. It could be PPC, I'm not sure how to check though.
I like the way you're thinking, Elfen. ;)
That IS an impressive collection, and lovely pictures to match! :) And I'm also curious about why you need to remove the drives?
I have my Basilisk II setup running System 7.5.3 and I want to update it to 7.6.x. But DiskCopy seems to have gone on strike. Every version I've tried gives me this rubbish:
I'm using a Performa ROM, and there's a couple thousand choices for different models. Advice please?
Things like this are pretty common, my first post here was about my Plus doing something similar. I had the same concern. :)
Does that apply to all models with a floppy drive or just the Classic? And also good to know about the speaker issue, that will definitely be worth remembering.
Eventually I want to have all the iMac G3s, with a matching keyboard and mouse. So far I have a complete bondi set (with two keyboards, though one's unusable junk) and my indigo iMac, but I can't remember if I still have a matching keyboard and know I don't have a matching mouse. If prices are...
If stiction is the problem, a light tap on the side of the hard drive can temporarily help. Not always, but it's happened before. If it does get the drive going, don't turn it off until you have all the data you need backed up.
It doesn't sound like there's anything important on the drive that...
I know right? It's extremely frustrating, especially when you think you have it solved and the problem suddenly pops up again when you aren't expecting it.
IT LIVES AGAIN! :D
I held the CUDA button down for 5 seconds just to be safe, and then I took a look at the pins. One was very slightly bent, so I poked it gently with a dull needle to bend it back, which worked. Then I took a look at the rails... and found what looked like a cookie crumb...
The network issues will eventually be worked out. I only have a limited amount of frustration I can handle, and network gremlins eat up all the bandwidth, so to speak.
