    Sweet man! I have a IIsi rom on my SE/30. When you turn it on with the new rom, the screen displays a checkered pattern for a min or so, then boots normally. So don't be alarmed! I originally couldn't figure out what was wrong with mine...

    I had the exact same problem on mine. Is the grease on the slide assemblies on the right hand side of the drive. For mine I had to remove 3 C-clips and clean the stuck parts. Be careful, parts are small and fragile. Good luck!

    128k/512k repair questions

    Update, I disassembled and cleaned the slides and mechanisms on the 128k drive and now it works perfectly! Going to try it on the 512k drive soon and hope it is not permanently damaged. :-/

    No big deal. Most people would probably go straight to 7.6.1, however I only had 7.6 on CD. Once I installed 7.6 I could no longer boot the SE/30, and the 7.1 disk tools floppy won't recognize my laptops burned data CDs as readable. Luckily, there was a "system 7.5.5 temp" system still left...

    I discovered the problem, the hack only works for system 7.5.3, 7.5.5 and 7.6.1, not 7.6. I updated to 7.6.1 and all is good.
