Mac OS 7.6 on SE/30 with IIsi ROM

Brooklyn

Hello, I have an SE/30 with a IIsi ROM and I am trying to install system 7.6. I followed all of the instruction's on Gamba's site, and everything worked up until I had to modify the system file in Resedit. It says to:

ResEdit hack to 7.6.1 System file:

• 'gusd' resource 'ID 1' at offset '000018' ,

replace data '0008 0003 0009 0003'

with data '0008 0003 0009 0005'.

So when I go here, offset 000018 looks nothing like "0008 0003 0009 0003" Out of desperation I replaced the entire offset line with data "0008 0003 0009 0005" anyway, but the system still does not boot, says startup disk not suitable for this macintosh. Can I do anything here? Do I have to try and start over?

Note: the same resedit hack worked perfectly earlier to allow me to run 7.5.5 on the se/30 w/ the IIsi ROM.

I discovered the problem, the hack only works for system 7.5.3, 7.5.5 and 7.6.1, not 7.6. I updated to 7.6.1 and all is good.

Brooklyn, I apologize for mangling your post, I mistakenly hit "edit" instead of "reply" to your post and lost your original .txt and emoticon.

please re-post it however you wanted it, and I'll stick the original wording back in there where it belongs.

I've got to stop "posting" before I've had coffee . . . :I

. . . the hack only works for system 7.5.3, 7.5.5 and 7.6.1, not 7.6.
Interesting, I love these Systematic quirks. What's the story with this one, gang? :?:

No big deal.

Most people would probably go straight to 7.6.1, however I only had 7.6 on CD. Once I installed 7.6 I could no longer boot the SE/30, and the 7.1 disk tools floppy won't recognize my laptops burned data CDs as readable. Luckily, there was a "system 7.5.5 temp" system still left on the machine that system picker let me boot from. This system would read my burned CDs, and I successfully updated to 7.6.1 and used the hack no problem. Just advice to anyone else who has this problem down the road.

What was your base OS?

I'm trying to do the same thing, but I can't get OS 7.0.1 to install (which is what the instructions says to have installed (or 7.1)).

System Picker also isn't working (doesn't find a system folder).
