I love it! By the way, you probably can get files to it by accessing the USB FDD with a program called CiderPress. I don't know about a mac, but it works on a Windows PC, CiderPress opens the physical drive and lets you insert a file. I'm a little concerned as to why your desk is so empty :)...

You might be able to, I'm not going to say you can't! But what I do is, I use it to dilute the old grease, it's good at that, and then wipe it off and for actual lubricant I use white lithium grease, available at auto parts stores. It works well.

I had a Classic II that booted to a gray screen and the issue was either RAM or a dirty motherboard, I'm not sure. Is there any chance the issue is caps? I only know about caps so... I hope you can figure out the issue.

I try to mark the boards I recap, usually with a sticker, so later on people know it's been recapped. Say in 6 years, wouldn't want someone to think some machine had 35 year old caps if it didn't.

I cannot remember if people were saying to wash in vinegar, or baking soda, for in case it is important to neutralize the alkaline of the leaky caps. Regardless... yes I also have had success with boards running better just from scrubbing them. As long as you let it try it's totally fine for them.

I would solder a little piece of 30 gauge wire from the cap terminal to the other end of that trace. It's not the end of the world, for sure, and it's much easier than trying to fix it correctly, in the short term and if you don't know how.
