XPostFloppy - Free app for formatting floppies on OS X without Disk Utility irritations

I wanted to share another app I just wrote. I have been irritated that for years the Disk Utility app in Mac OS X can't format a disk in HFS+ without journaling turned on. This requires about a minimum 9 MB disk, which excludes floppies. You can go to the Terminal and do just HFS+, but that takes time. Another irritant is that the Disk Utility app insists on giving floppy disks partition maps, which is utterly ridiculous and can cause problems when using them on a Classic Mac or a PC. So I wrote a little program I call XPostFloppy. It lets you format a floppy in either HFS+ or MS-DOS, without creating any partition maps! It won't get rid of a partition map if you're already unfortunate to have one. For that, I recommend sticking the floppy in a Classic Mac or PC and formatting there, which will get rid of the partition map. From that point forward, you can just use XPostFloppy to go back and forth between HFS+ and MS-DOS to suite your need at the time. You can use 1.4MB and 720K disks for MS-DOS, and 1.4MB disks for HFS+. Interestingly the terminal diskutil command (which XPostFloppy uses) won't format a 720K disk in HFS+, but the Disk Utility app in 10.5 Leopard will!
So, if anyone thinks they would use this app, please feel free to download it! It's not signed, so you'll have to right click and select "Open" the first time.

To get rid of the partition map, unmount all partitions of the disks then write all zeros to the first 512 bytes of the disk.

Apple has recently updated iCloud sharing to allow folders. I've decided to move the apps (OldHex and XPostFloppy) I wrote and shared on here a while back to a singular folder, rather than individual links. This will make it a one stop shop, in case I add more software in the future. Today I'm also including a text adventure I wrote about 8 years ago. None of these are signed, just right click and choose Open the first time. Enjoy!
