Folks....
I have wanted to buy the correct alignment tool for my Color Classic. But I can not figure out if it is a spade tip or maybe a six sided tool, nor the correct size. My first packet of tools arrived from Amazon. I bought this kit:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000B61CSM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
Unlike the photo, all the tools were red plastic, and two had a metal tips. What is really irritatingis that none of the tools are labeled with the size on them.
It appeared (but I am not sure) that the correct tool for the color classic is a six sided tip. But the plastic is so poorly made the tip is really crappy. So if you are looking for a set of alignment tools for your color classic or other Mac from this era, I would recommend that you pass on this set. The tips are very crude IMHO. They are not quality tools at all in my eyes.
I did notice that the analog board has two metal shields around the adjustment trim pots. It may be possible to remove the metal, and then see if the adjustment pots need a spade tip of a 4/6 sided tool. And also, I may be able to see which size tool is the correct one. But at this point I am not inclined to remove the metal on the analog board because I am afraid I might screw something up in the process.
I can't believe with all the technicians here, that no one has been able to post the correct size adjustment tool for say, a Color Classic or a SE -30, etc. I would think this is common knowledge. I will post this info when I find out.
Anyway, do not make the mistake I did and order the above set. You may like them, but I think they are very poorly made.
