The "I wish it was MY conquest!" Conquest Thread

Was thinking people could post links or pictures of conquests they didn't personally get, but wish they had. :p Lament of a lost opportunity and congrats to whomever snagged that lucky item!

So here's a recent one for me someone posted about over at VCF:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-II-Vintage-Computer-With-2-Floppy-Drives-Silentype-Printer-And-More-/161168955630

:O Original pre-1979 Apple II with all its peripherals, BASIC ROMs, silent-type printer (SN 352!), and peripherals. $300 courtesy of an electronics recycler. Auction must've lasted all of 2 seconds.

Wow, that is a pretty dang good deal for all of that and it looks to be in fine condition! Imagine if the slots were green! }:) I don't collect much Apple ][ stuff, but even the auction would have temped me!

You don't know how many times I was the second-last bidder with less than 3 seconds to spare. I bid on the first and second set of the 24" x 36" Think Different posters in original packaging in Canada. I lost at $203. My bid was only at $202. These were from an employee of Corel Corp who had gotten them straight from Apple as a developer.

True, but you don't know what the other person's max bid was. Could have been $300. For this reason I always bid what I truly will pay for something at the last second. If I don't get it, I have to breathe and just say its too much for my blood. If my max was $200 and I get it for $150, great! Now I can spend $50 on something else I don't need. }:)

Original Apple II for $400 out the door is not too shabby.
Not at all! Even in that condition. Should be rather easily reparable. To me it looked that it wasn't early model (power switch, color of the slots) but that really doesn't matter.

Me want. Very much.

The Techstep that was on eBay recently only went for about 20 euros more than my max bid. Another "one that got away" damnit. Oh well, I'll get my "Holy Grail" one day. Maybe I'll make it a new year's resolution.

Yeah I saw that. If I didn't have a few of those models I would considered it though. It's in pretty rough shape with case damage. The seller was rather brash about sending it so it wouldn't have worked. I've never understood people that put stuff on eBay for local sale only. Take the thing to a UPS store, charge accordingly, and specify that in the listing. Oh well

Ugh! Somehow I missed two original Macs (pre 128k nameplate) go through eBay for $80 each, $20 shipping, buy-it-now. With the crazy prices, good deal. Parts along probably worth more.
