System 7.1 stopped formatting 400K disks

Hi, 

Until yesterday I was able to format DS/DD disks as single (400k) on my SE/30. But it changed out of blue. When I put in a new disk, instead of seeing regular giving me a option of single, double sided format it shows totally different menu with only 800K and DOS 720K. I didn't mess with my System files. Is there any third party formatting tool for System 7 with 400/800K options?

Did you perhaps inadvertently enable the PC Exchange control panel?  That replaces the 400k formatting option in early versions of System 7 with the DOS formatting option, exactly as you describe.  Try turning it off, or restarting with the Shift key down.  See for example question 4 at https://support.apple.com/kb/TA47951?locale=en_US
