Stuck Battery in PB100

I've got a dead PB100 that's been sitting in my closet for some time. The battery refuses to budge when I try to move it (the door won't move at all). Any tips for successful removal? I'd like to work on this one a little bit over the week I have off.

I've used a steel ruler to slide into a slot and then firmly push it up to slide up the tab, you need to remove the battery to take the top and bottom half of the casing apart.

Hopefully the battery hasn't leaked, once you do get it out you could put some silicone spray on the sliding mechanism to make it go in and out a lot smoother.

The battery most certainly has bulged. I had bulged (and obviously dead) batteries in all my 1xx conquests. To force the door to slide, +1 for the ruler tip above. Then I'd pull!

If no success, you can easily open the PowerBook and remove the top case (three screws under the PowerBook), and that will help move out the battery.

How did this work out? I assume not good. I heard once that the PB100 uses a lead-acid type battery. I've never owned one so I don't know if it's true or not. If it's a lead acid and it burst expect corrosion and maybe melted plastic. I always remove batteries from everything before putting it into long term storage so if the battery is going to burst or leak it won't ruin the device.
