Friend of mine has an se/30. He recapped it and cleaned it. Looks good. But turns on, chime, but black screen or weird screen. I removed and cleaned a few things up but no dice. Gets a good chime, but thats all. Will check voltages. I using a completely recapped se chassis so definitely logic board related. Reset and programmer button work but not all the time. Will check traces. The scsi chip had a lot of corrosion on the legs

while you have UE8 off the board check between each pad and first via for each trace - thats how i found most of my display problems
on a few se/30's - you might also find breaks on UD8 as well

If it's booting and just has no video, I'd check the Molex plug that's on the logic board, specifically continuity of video signals that go to the AB. I have found a break there which resulted in the exact thing you show.

So, tried a bunch of stuff. No change. Even without rom and memory this screen persists. Wondering if owner did something to it when he recapped it?

Doesn’t boot or anything. Just the chime. So weird, its a nice board

If you have got a chime, then the board has achieved the self test, can you post a picture of the UE8 and surroundings ?

So found some bad vias, but still no change after bodge wires. Possible damage in inner layers? Found yet another bad via, but still no change. Checked voltages and am getting 5.03 and 12.63. High.more searching

Not sure a 100% but concerning UE8, pins 6/7 and 8 don't look soldered ok, and barely touching the pads.

Its the angle of picture. I checked all the legs. All is good with ue8. I have another se/30 that i just removed the ue8 and put back on as well. The picture of what its doing is posted above. Board chimes but thats it.

The reset button does work but it doesn’t chime again once pressed. The programmers button doesn’t produce the sad Mac chimes when pressed.

Like i said before it doesn’t do anything after the chime, no floppy or scsi activity. Just dead with the screen at the very top of the post this post.

I have tested it everything that is removable and tried in another se/30. All tested good. So definitely a board issue. All se / se/30 have recapped analog / psu.
