Retail-boxed Mac OS 8.5 from Freecycle!

Saw this offered on Freecycle recently and thought it was too good to pass up, given that I like collecting the retail-boxed OSes (for both Mac OS and Windows) - picked it up this evening and it's a good one, in pretty nice condition and with the box, instructions and OS 8.5 CD

I have a legit Mac OS 8.5 CD. Is the retail one greenish?

All the manuals I have for mac OS (8.1, 7.6.1, etc) seem to be very thin.

Yep, it is green with the large "8" logo in the centre. The manual is thin like the OS 9 one, it basically just tells you about installing it and solving post-install problems - it must have been around 7.6 that they went thin, as I have the 7.0 set and that comes with some very large manuals that fill almost the whole box (and the box is a lot larger than the later ones - the main manual for the OS is even spiral-bound!), though I haven't seen a 7.5 set. Still better than Leopard though, I couldn't believe how tiny that box is when I first saw it!

Yea, my 7.01/7.1 had decent manuals.

Nice find. I actually borrowed a boxed copy of OS 8.1 from my school Physics teacher about 6 or 7 years ago but he never asked for it back! Other than that I don't think I have any boxed system versions, though I do have a full set of 7.1 installer disks.

hm, I do not like people who thinks like that [!] !]'> ... isn't it your duty, if you borrow something, that you have to return it to its owner?

Anyway it is not my buissnes but many have borrowed from me and never returned, and now I forgot who got my stuff [] ]'>

I have many OS's but the only boxed ones are:

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation - This OS will always have a special place in my heart. God I loved NT back in the day.

OS X Tiger - Self Explanatory

I would love to have all X flavors in boxed sets. I would also atleast like to have all the classic OS's on their original CD's. I have no Mac OS on floppy, bu do have DOS 6.22, Win 3.1 and Win 3.11.
