Quadra won't save a file

So I have my 840av working.... it's running off've a 2gig external hard drive.

I recorded some video and saved the file which then has to be converted, but when I try to save the converted file, from "Movie player", it begins the process, but then only gets maybe a 5th of the way through and then I get the error message "Unable to save file input/outup error".

I've tried deleting other files on the disk/freeing up space, but still get this same error...

Perhaps the external hard drive is too slow? I'm not sure that I can imagine this being the problem... I dunno...

Everything else is fine, I run games, MSWord, MagicMac.

Is there a maximum file size that you have reached for whatever system you are running?

That's what I'm wondering.....

But I don't know, as I am running os 8.1 & I have done this sort of thing many time before...

I set up a RamDisk and tried saving to that.... I get the same error message.

Have you tried saving on a different volume?
