Printing from an SE/30 to a modern HP printer?

Tried a fresh install of 7.5.3 (upgraded to 7.5.5) with OT 1.2, still experiencing the same issue of the SE/30 not seeing AppleTalk zones.

For now I think I'm going to abandon this project. I *could* try a 10mbit hub or something... maybe on a rainy day :)

Our office started with Macintosh IIsi machines running System 7.5.5 and localtalk, along with an Apple LaserWriter on Localtalk. Then we upgraded to a HP Laserjet 4050n and bought an Asante Localtalk to Ethernet bridge.  Eventually we upgraded the Macintosh IIsi machines to ethernet.  So essentially like your SE/30.  Printing to the HP 4050n was quite simple an easy, and used the Apple LaserWriter print driver.

In fact, we still use an eMac running Mac OS 9 to print barcoded shipping labels from HyperCard to the HP 4050n.

Nice!

I'm planning to follow this guide for adding wi-fi to the SE/30 which will also allow me to tunnel HTTPS requests for another project. The wi-fi adapter also happens to natively support 10mbit ethernet, so perhaps this tweak will help me with AppleTalk.

Alternatively, I might try using the iPrint adapter to bridge the printer port to Ethernet and see if that works.
