I currently have Mac OS 9.1 installed on my G3 upgraded Power Macintosh 9600 (Tsunami Board) and am trying to update to 9.2.2 with OS9Helper. However, whenever I try installing the 9.2.1 patch it fails all the time. I extracted the Mac OS 9.2.1 update sit file with Stuffit Expander. Was I supposed to do that? What should I do?

Hmmm, if you have downloaded the archive.org zip archive of the download.info.apple.com FTP server, you might try the 9.2.1 Update file on that. I seem to remember using it when I upgraded my old 7500/100 to 9.2.2 using OS9Helper. Worked fine. In fact, the 9.2.2 install on my current G4 Digital Audio happens to be originally from that computer. Just transferred to various hard drives from the original Quantum Fireball TM 3GB SCSI drive I used in said 7500. Currently on a 120GB IDE drive.

Welp, I'm stupid lol. I had to install the OldWorld FireWire Patch first due to my system having a USB/FW400 combo card installed. Then 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 were installed successfully.

I was going to say because my G3 300mhz works fine with 9.2.2 in my 8600.. and yes had to do the helper and the OldWorld patch too.

OOps! Glad you got it figured out. Now you can run MSN Messenger... lol

:ROFLMAO:

That is the reason why my 7500 had to be upgraded to 9.2.2 long ago. Micro$oft decided that 9.2.2 was the only version they'd allow to run MSN Messenger, unless you decided to run the OS X version.
