Mcdermd has been hosting this really great website,

It Breaks down the Models and has info on how to over clock

http://www.applefool.com/clockchipping/

So far my favorite over-clocked machines are:

LC-III -(25) -->33mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=19430

Macintosh IIsi -(20) -->25mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=17923

Quadra 605 -(25) -->33mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19310'>http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19310

LC-475 -(25) -->33mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19310

Quadra 700 -(25) -->28-32mhz

http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/pub/infomac/info/_Hardware/quadra-700-clock-mod-145.txt

There was someone on this forum that did this oc with pictures but I cannot find the thread!

Quadra 840av

Mcdermd --- Wanna oc this and make a Thread?? 48mhz????? :) ! Heck Yeah!

Powermac / Preforma 6100 -(60-66) -->90mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=20392

Quadra / Preforma 610 -(20) -->25-30+mhz

http://68kmla.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=20386

The LC-III is by far the easiest to OC, you just remove one resister and relocate it on the bottom.

If you have any other threads or info you want to post please do!

My Q800 has a NewerTech clip-on overclock. Right now it's set to 40MHz. I'm thinking of dropping it to 38MHz so I can install the 601 card, but really, that extra 2MHz makes a big deal in A/UX and it's a pretty lousy Power Mac (compared to my 6116CD and 7100).

I bought a few NewerTech Powerclips for my Q950/840AV/Q700, and stuffed if I can get them to work.

But the 840AV will be the best candidate for it, when I get the time to try the chips out again.

I just grabbed all of the clock chipping pages from Marc Schrier's MobileMe site before it closed.

Haha, no. That one stays stock.

Thank you for rescuing that. That site was a fantastic resource in its day and still of great interest at this late date. It was very kind of Marc Schrier to keep it up as long as he did.

The Turbo601/66 article (in the upgrades section) is mine, BTW. :)

I am going to change the oscillator in my q800 tonight.

I can't seem to find it ... there was a great page that has details on the over clocking q700 / q900 / q800/ q950 / q840av

I want my q800 to run at 40mhz or more ... i want everything to work,,, serial ports etc. i remember after 42mhz the serial ports stopped working.

Better... it was a 50MHz 68040 SE/30. :cool:

50MHz was only stable long enough to get the screencap, but 48 ran like a top for years and years.

Bus speeds and timing/instability at higher speeds would be the main issues with a highly overclocked '040, not heat ...

has anyone ever been able to get the cpu in ether the IIcx or SE/30 up a little? w/o a daystar etc...

From what I understand about the compacts (including the SE/30), because the video timing comes from the lobo, you can't OC them. Maybe with an external monitor, but then what's the point?

MinerAI might know :) or Trag :)

Trash?

I dunno… i mean the SE/30 is fine at 16mhz…

Likewise with the IIcx.

The jump from IIcx to IIci was a big step, from what I can tell.

even using the same ram/rom/video card the IIci really becomes quite a snappy monkey @25mhz.

OH, sorry i forgot the IIci has the apple cache card installed… witch does help its speed a good amount.

my next project is getting my q800 @40mhz+ I should just buy one of those $9.99 clip on boosters from ebay.

ok i coped out… Mark give me a

So i used it to over clock my Quadra 800 to 40 mhz.

I acutely replaced the cpu with a 40mhz 040 as well.

It runs at like 41.48 says the speed-o app that came on the floppy with the Mac-Clip.

It seems to me like the macclip is a little hokey. Its not on there all that well.

The Macclip thing clips right to the OSCILLATOR chip on the mainboard.

Disabling it and inserting its own clock.

Maybe i'll put a drop or 2 of goop to hold it on there a little better...
