Original LC and 68k Mac Games Galore

I've posted bits and pieces before, but this is my original LC's "final resting place" after digging it out of my parents attic and upgrading w/a presto plus!

Then came the real addiction - collecting 68k games! A picture below and my favorites - anybody see anything that brings them back down memory lane?

  • Enchanted Scepters - The original disk, no box yet! Saw a boxed copy last year and missed the auction dangit. This is my grail game @ moment that I'm missing in box. The history behind this game, and Silicon Beach Software is crazy if you haven't looked it up. The guys there published this game, leveraged that to publish Airborne! (or maybe I have order backwards), then the smash hit in Dark Castle I & II, and then founded the company that would eventually give birth to Macromedia Flash! I love that it all started with these early, simple efforts. Shows what's possible as one embarks on a path.
  • Airborne! - Sealed box, the game that made Dark Castle possible per above.
  • Dark Castle - Sealed box, what else is there to say. NEEE! NEEE!
  • Kings Bounty - Sealed box, my favorite game when the LC was new
  • SimTower - I had a "copied" version, fun to "buy" it years later
  • Syndicate - lots and lots of time in that one
  • Quest for Glory I - blew my mind and my real intro to RPGs
  • Monkey Island, Indiana Jones, Loom - some of my first gaming memories, totally impressed in my brain at this point!
  • Spaceward Ho - An old favorite, took me longer to find a boxed copy of this than almost anything.
  • Kings Quest (misc #s) - Who knew that ALL of the King's Quests weren't published on MacOS? Some were Apple II only. Thought my collection was hopelessly incomplete until learned that fact. Still annoyed.
  • SimAnt - Very fond memories of playing this game with my family, maybe one of the first on the original LC. Nothing like it since IMO.
  • Prince of Persia - The WOW game I saw early on a friend's SE?
  • Marathon - First network LAN party, first time maybe also staying up until 5am!

That’s a lovely display! Thanks for the games list, I missed most of those games in the day but have been looking to identify a list of fun early games to play. Have seen many of these on best of lists.

I believe Airborne did come before Enchanted Sceptres. There was a great article in an early 1986 Macworld article about the guy who did the iconic sounds of early Silicon Beach games. Fun stuff.

You may have just inspired me to set up a little display of my own. Is that Through the Looking Glass in the original box up there? Nice!
