it will read the disk, and write to the disk... inject and eject fine.

but when i go to format a disk its like it doesn't try and says failed.

tried different disks, etc

i've already checked all the basics, Changed the resistor network.

the only thing it could be is the SIWM or maybe a trace/via issue, has anyone had this issue before?

visually everything looks clean and nice around that chip. no rot what so ever.

also the external does the same thing.

changed the resistor pack again... and changed the SWIM as well.

looks like all i have left is to do a dreaded pin to pin :(

ok tried something different, booted up 7.5.3, when i try to format a disk it bombs out and says Address Error, and gives the restart button.

i bet the issue is in the lines that go to the swim :(

I was wrong

I can't write.

I can only read good floppies,

If I try to write or format the machine bombs.

I checked the WRTIE(wr) line from internal floppy pin 18 to the UH7 is good, also the Write(wr+) line from SWIM to UH7 is also 000 good.

I also checked the D lines from SWIM to UE10 they are all 000 good too.

Is this the same behavior your had originally? Your first post had a photo of a failure dialog, rather than a bomb.

Where does the format fail? Is it still happening immediately, like on the first track, or does it happen at the start of the verify step?

If you haven't already, might as well check all the other lines from the SWIM to the drives - there are only 10 or so of them, as I recall.

Have you tried both 800K and 1.4M floppies? That might provide more clues.

Good luck!
