Sounds very likely.

As for the power bills, I have a somewhat large house with a pool and a ton of appliances. Our average power bill runs around $7-800 a month. I might not even notice the ANS.
Good grief! When mine is $200 it's too much. Then again I have a smaller house. :)
Our power bill recently came in at about $150. The parents went through the roof! ("You use too many computers!" or something like that, apparently)

Some places have a peak usage fee, so not only do you pay for the KW hours you use, but if you have too much on at once and the amp draw to the house goes over a limit you get hit by that as well.

Its been a while since I actualy bothered to read my bill. The heating bill in the winter has been more then the power bill in the summer even with the central air on all the time. I have run a few machines at once before, generally 2 were on (whatever I was working on and my server) and sometimes a few more.

Jeebus blackcube! Our power bill for the entire farm is $900 a month over the winter (it goes down a bit in summer). That's with several 3,5,7,10 + 15 HP motors running plus the compressor for the bulk milk tank, plus the water tank heaters (4 @ 1500W each) plus the house, and the shop, and the block heaters for the tractors and Bobcat and the 3 barn fans, and more. You must be using lots and lots of power!

$.063 per kWh here, residential (current bill).
As usual the state government has totally screwed the public with deregulation. Power rates were under 7 cents kwh now on a normal retail provider they can be as high at 18 cents. We are paying 11 cents because our retail provider is a member owner co-op utility.

If you will sign a long term contract, commercial rates are actually lower than residential at time.

$.063 is 6.3 Cents a kWh.. if you are paying $1 something is a bit wrong paws, better check again.

Blackcube: What kind of fuel source do you guys use for electricity there? Not sure if they use nuclear here or natural gas. Makes a big difference, if they use oil for generation then I can see the prices being higher.

Fuel Usage From Most Common to Least Common:

1. Natural Gas

2. Lignite Coal

3. Nuclear

4. Wind

5. Hydroelectric

They were going to build 8 new coal plants but have scrapped plans to build five of them. I wish they would build more reactors. We only have three nuke plants on line with two generating units each. I wish they would build a dozen more. We have the space.

We are at about 8 cents per kWh. It was 6, but it went up about two years ago.
I just had a friend who moved back to Eagle River from Dallas and he was amazed at the cost of power and the high property taxes here. I drove his Denali to Eagle River in August for him. I was amazed at the lack of Blue Laws in WI. I stopped in at a C-Store to buy ice and was struck by the fact you could but liquor on Sunday.

It was gorgeous weather in Eagle River in August but I wouldn't want to be there now.

I should have called Mark last night to make a bet on tonights football game. He grew up in Green Bay. Having lived within 60 miles of Dallas all my life, we teased each other about football constantly.

Northeast of Dallas it's 42, no wind to speak of and will be in the low 60's this afternoon. This will last today and tomorrow then we'll return to our usual December temps of low 70's with a morning lows in the 50's.

We'll get real winter weather in January or February. Last year we only had a few days of temps below freezing and we had a dusting of snow twice. Of course a little sleet or a dusting of snow will totally paralyze Dallas drivers.

Nice score! I found a freebie listed on Craigslist once, but the woud-be donor didn't return calls.

During the summer months, my electricity bills are usually well below $20/month, but it was a pretty hot and miserable summer! Some days, even a single compact fluorescent lamp felt like it was radiating too much heat, so for my winter project, I should get some LED lighting going.
