New iBook G4 score!

Got my 17" iMac G4 a buddy - a last-revision iBook G4 1.42Ghz. This thing is mint... still has stickers on various parts. It's surprisingly fast too... trying to decide how best to put it to use! My only complaint is the screen is rather dim

Nice! That's in great condition. I always liked the appearance of the iBooks.

I'm curious what you think of the performance after using it for a while. A decade ago I picked up a G4 iBook (don't remember the speed) but it was much slower than my G4 iMac 17" and 2005 Mini. After a year of not using it I passed it along to someone else, but I've considered getting another one since then...

The computer has a 32 MB ATI Mobility Radeon 9550, which was a fast GPU when it was released in 2005.

I think it's an iteration thing - in my case it's definitely faster than my iMac G4, but it's not terribly surprising since this particular iBook is 1.42 GHz vs 1 GHz, with faster bus speed and more cache. My iMac is super cute but sadly I do struggle to find good utility for it in 2023 even with an SSD upgrade I did :-( I have a bit more hope for this iBook
