My iMac died :(

So yesterday I went to power up my iMac, only to have it not boot. It worked fine on Friday night, so yeah.

I power it up, and I the fan runs, and the power LED glows amber. I've now had a play around with it, and I've gotten it to chime (played with the RAM), but I can't get any video, either on the internal display, or an AppleVision 1710AV.

I have another logic board assembly kicking around, with RAM and a CPU card installed, so I tried it. It needed some convincing, but it booted fine off an OS 8.6 CD.

I know for the past few months, the display on it has taken longer and longer to warm up. ATX conversion time I guess? :-/

For the record its a Rev. D tray load iMac 333.

Forget about this everyone - the iMac lives :) Turns out that one of the RAM modules is cactus, the Hyundai stick. Friggen Hyundai...their cars suck, and so does their RAM! (They're the same company, right?)

Its also a shame that it seems that these old gals, as they seem to age, seem to become more finicky than a vintage Alfa Romeo. :p

Yeah, I've heard their RAM is supposed to be decent, but as you can tell, I haven't had much luck with them, and, well, everyone knows that their cars really suck! :p (unless, of course, you're a fuli sic Hyundai Excel driver :p )

Good thing GM don't make ram then 'eh? :p

I don't have any luck with Hyundai RAM, I have a few cards sitting in the cupboard which have all been pretty dodgy.

Oh boy... another possible cause my overclock is failing... Hyundai RAM. Testing now with the pc133 and the toshiba pc100 chips (total 512mb), running for 1:30 hours. No problems so far.

Edit: Dang! too soon.
