Welcome! Everyone here can get you some help. What means do you have to make a floppy in general? Any other old Macs? Newer Macs? Just PCs?

Sorry what i mean i can find the floppy’s online and download them also Some drivers, but they are or an .sit file or .hqx but how can i unpack them i get them into the classic ? I have an usb disk drive connected to my modern mac but when i copy the data to the floppy (fat 32). And on the color classic i cannot read the data on the floppy correct

Ok, let's back up here:

- I assumed you had no working system on the CC. Does it have a working hard drive with a system on it right now?

- When you say Modern Mac, what system is it running?

- Does the CC happen to already have Stuffit or Stuffit Expander of some sort on it?

Ok, so, there is no way that you can write out HFS disks from the Finder from your modern iMac to the floppy.

However...

There may be some command line-based tools to allow you to do this. You can possibly write out an image file directly to the disk, bypassing the Finder and mounting process. I'll see if @Phipli can chime in here, as he seems to have a good handle on this sort of thing.

As for the PC disk thing, it should be possible to use PC disks on the CC if the appropriate System software is installed. What system does the CC have on it right now?

Sadly I haven't messed about with writing floppy disks from modern machines. Too many old machines about. I just use old machines for things like that. But mostly use CDs and ethernet for stuff, not floppy disks. :)

Same here. I wonder if anyone can chime in about using dd to make floppy images on a new Mac.

thanks for feedback (both) so the best thing to do is to search for an scsi cd reader and write the files to an cd disk and use this on the cc?

Ok, well, if you can read the PC floppy, that’s a big win. I can send you a version of StuffIt Expander via email that I will compress as a zip on a modern Mac. You can expand it on your modern Mac and then transfer it to the CC. Then we can get stuff via floppy to the CC. Send me a PM so we can exchange emails.

Peter, email to you coming. That is the Expander installer. Let me know if you have any issues.
