MacOS X Server 1.2- Really neat OS

Dug a B&W G3 out of the closet tonight, and found my MacOS X Server 1.2 Installation disks, Dropped 256MB RAM in the Blue and White and installed it. Its amazing how powerful this server software is. Looks like it was the best of the best back in 99/2000. Whats really neat is Server 1.2 is basically NextStep/OpenStep with a Mac Menu Bar and then the NeXT workspace manager.. takes a bit to figure out.. but fun to play with.

Any of you guys mess with it.

During my consulting days, the room they stuck me in was next to a test bay where they had a Yosemite running it. Their Mac guy in those days was really delighted by it.

I have it on my smurf as well. It's basically what Rhapsody was going to be, before it got canned.

The first developer preview of OS X looked almost identical (just minus the server components).

I love the way this looks, compared to the candy of OS X. I wonder if there's a way to upgrade the internals of OS X server 1.2 while retaining its interface? Probably not though, I imagine someone would have figured it out by now...
