Macintosh Plus not working with Wifi serial Modem

I've been trying to get my Macintosh plus to work with the "Simple Wifi modem" (https://www.tindie.com/products/8bit_bruno/simple-wifi-rs232-modem-v2/) for a few days now, and it seems like no matter what, I cannot get anything from it to the Macintosh or vice-versa. There doesn't seem to be any acknowledgement on either end that they're connected. I have bought a couple cables to see if they were the issue, but I'm really out of ideas at this point.

Does anyone have one of these? Did they get it working? How did you do it? Is the pinout for the cables wrong?
