Hi all!

I am looking for copies of MPW 2.0 and 3.0, either real (original) disks or images. (Yes, I know there is a more recent version available for download.)

TIA,

Out of curiosity, what do you need a particular version for?
I am setting up a "Eighties Macintosh Plus" - just components that were availible in the eighties...

Of course I need some kind of development kit that runs on System 6.

Well, THINK's LIghtspeed C 3.01 & Lightspeed Pascal 2.0 were both released back in 1988. Would those work?

Hi,

I still have a copy of the developer's E.T.O (Essential Tools & Objects) cd from 1993. It includes MPW 3.2.3 but also a specific version for

68000 Macs. This is a real developer's cd from Apple not a burned copy. Would this be of interest?

They would. I do have a couple of languages already but am still looking for a early MPW...

Do you know if it'll work with System 6?

Don't know for sure. There is this on Systen 6 heaven:

"When Apple finally released System 7, it caused a huge outcry among developers, as many existing applications were incompatible with it. Ironically, Apple's own development system, MPW 3.1, was one of the applications that was incompatible with System 7. It took quite a while for MPW 3.2 to be readied and released, which allowed native System 7 development until then, you had to develop under System 6 and then reboot or transfer the software to a machine running system 7 to be able to test your software. Adding insult to injury, Apple had emphasized making sure that your applications were "System-7-ready" at three consecutive World-Wide

Developer Conferences ('89, '90 and '91), but their own application missed the mark. Of course, at each of these conferences, they also promised that System 7 would be released "later this year". They got it right in 1991."

which kind of implies that it will. There is also some language in the "About E. T. O. #14" that implies it will run under System 6 but I

no longer have any System 6 machines, so I can't test it.

Doesn't that kind of imply that 3.2.x doesn't work with System 6 and that only <3.2 will?

Sounds interesting, are you thinking of making a disk image available? Looks like Apple's FTP server no longer is supporting this software.
