LC PDS Options

Is there a list somewhere of what kinds of cards were available for the LC PDS slot? My particular machine is a Performa 631CD and I'm trying to find something to fill the slot with. I've already got a comm slot ethernet card so I don't need one of those, but for the most part, all I'm finding are ethernet cards for the slot. What other options do I have for finding something to fill it?

There were also a handful of video cards, and the Apple IIe card that let you run Apple ][ software on your Mac.

NB: not listed there are Lacie branded cards, which I have seen a few of on ebay.

If you are really luck you might even find an LC PDS CPU upgrade.

DOS Compatibility Card is the only thing I ever installed in my Quadra 630, IIRC.

Methinks it's time to try to reassemble that one for old times sake! :approve:

Actually, a DOS card sounds pretty good. What part number or specific models can I look for to place in my Performa 631CD?

Also, I read elsewhere that some of these cards came with a video out daughterboard that required a special slot on the mac board? What are the specifics about that?

Which of the DOS cards work in this machine? I'm guessing just the original Houdini?

There was the genuine Apple one, as well as at least one third party one. Both were 486's.

The other Card was from Reply, which must have been acquired by Radius, because macmetex wound up with a boatload of parts and complete assemblies of these things. Hence, my acquisition of a couple of Magazine Shipping Boxes full of this stuff. Looks like two complete sets with the cables.

Yeah, I remember installing the Apple Card and shifting the 630's Proc to the DOS Card. I found the software floppies and a bunch of notes I took back in the day in the original DOS on Mac box.

Couldn't find the actual Apple Cards, I'm hoping they didn't go down the whirlpool.but the April, 1995 Computer Life page with the box/pic review of the "610/650/Select Quadra Models" turns out to be interesting. I've got a different 1995 board than the one pictured, that has an EdgeCard connector that starts about 48mm from the NuBus Backplane plate. Might this be for the Quadra 840AV and it's 'zaBox sidekick? Dunno, mine's under one end of the MacCoffeeTable™ that's weighted down quite effectively with a large pile of other goodies and the copy stand loaded down with various parts from three current hacks.

Strange card with an HD-26 Connector and a cutout for a missing DaughterCard, likely SoundBlaster. It has the OPTi ChipSet, S3 graphics on board and a nice surprise that I'd forgotten about. There's a Cyrix 5x86-100GP in the '486 socket! A quick Google search reveals that this Clock Tripled CPU outperforms a 75 MHz Pentium for running the '486 instruction set. [:)] ]'>

Gotta document this sucker. :approve:

trag started rolling the SCSI Voodoo HowTo ball, how about another volunteer with a good working knowledge and collection of the Apple DOS Cards starting a DOS on Mac thread in the Peripherals Forum?
