I have just learned of an old utility called Last Resort, which was a Control Panel that kept a record of every keystroke entered on a Mac. This was intended as a simple backup measure, and a defence against data loss in case of crashes. I have not seen it in action, but I gather that the idea was that you'd periodically go in and empty the record of keystrokes thus created so as to begin again.
Were there other, more capable utilities that did similar things? I would, for instance, really like to find a way to add multiple undos to word processing software like Word 5.1, MacWrite Pro, and WordPerfect, even if in a roundabout way. Last Resort, it would appear, did not get quite that far....
