iTunes 2.0.4 & Radio Tuner List Not Loading

Hey guys,

Has anyone else noticed under iTunes 2.0.4 in OS 9 the application no longer loads any of the channel lists for the Radio Tuner? I've been able to manually listen to stations I like by typing in the stream address, but it appears to no longer download the list of available stations for any of the genres.

Has anyone come up with a workaround (other than manually typing in the stations address) or fix for this? I don't really have many MP3s on my Pismo, so the radio tuner is what I usually listen to the most.

Thanks!

"An error occurred wile contacting the radio tuning service. Check your internet connection, or try again later". <<>>

I've seen this exact issue with ITunes 4 and searched for an answer. I found nothing. ITunes 2.0.4 and ITunes 4 no longer supports radio stations. If you once had listed radio stations (when they worked) with either version, the station lists still appears, however when you try to access a station, you get the above error message.

Apparently Apple changed the way it handles radio stations (server related) and disabled the old way it was doing things. Therefore the older versions of ITunes no longer have access to radio stations. I downloaded ITunes V9 and tried it on my G3 Lombard and G4 laptops. ITunes V9 doesn't like the G3, but it runs fine on its minimum requirement of a G4. So it appears that ITunes V9 on a G4 is the oldest version that supports radio. In my case I'm running 10.4.11 on both laptops. I can't speak for 10.3.

ITunes 2.0.4 on OS9 has a nice feature of importing and creating MP3s which the newer versions did away with. That in itself is nice. I created my music library and moved the entire library to a Powerbook 3400. This 3400 serves as a king sized MP3 player running OS 9.1 using ITunes 2.0.4.

Every version of iTunes up to the current 11 may import/rip MP3s once you change the CD ripping settings in the preferences.
