It all started with an SE/30...

That I found on the side of the road.  That brought me here in 2014, looking for info on the problems with it.

So I started hanging out and reading here, and I ended up with this...

How does this happen? :)

G4 Cube, 1.5GB RAM, 120MB Drive. Modded with Dual G4-500's, a Radeon 7500 and a fan. OS X 10.4.11

SE/30, 100 percent recapped, repaired UE8 and traces,  new flyback, Noctura Fan, 32MB RAM , SCSI2SD, Asante MacCon PDS Ethernet card .  System 7.1

800K and 5.25" Floppy Drives

Color Classic/Mystic 36MB, 4GB Had Drive, Ethernet, Recapped 575 Mobo. Adjustable Keyboard.  Picked up on CL with Maxell battery damage, original Mobo was junk. System 7.6.1

Pismo 500Mhz with a CF Drive. 1GB Ram, Mac OS 9.2.2

MacCollection1.jpg

Laserwriter 4/600 printer. iPhone 3GS, 4s, 5s, iPad1, various iPod Mini's, Classic's, Nano's

A Newton 120 and two Mac Mini's (G4)  SE/30 Mobo in the static bag-- Just replaced UE8 on that one too and recapped.  Still needs testing.

There's more-- But I figured I'd post some of my collection/conquests.

Nice!

I like the corner desk. I wouldnt mind having one. But I would need a "full size" corner desk. That one I call a halfie. its almost as if its 2 half-desks put together. Anyways I digress.

Thats usually how it happens. Once you get bitten by the bug, everything tends to multiply. My collection has gotten way out of hand. I have each LC with each monitor, a Q700, couple of LC575s now, with some SEs, I have 3 SE/30s, two of which I need to get rid of. and a bunch of others I cant even remember.

i need to get rid of a few things, and then gain another M1212 monitor to pair with my IIsi and I will be good :)

Does that 5.25" floppy drive actually work with an SE/30?

It would if I could find the controller card. It works with a IIci that I've been working on-- I have the card for that. I believe Apple made a PC Drive card for the SE/30 and a Nubus card.

I am working on getting my SE/30 running properly, after several years on a rack, and this would be a really nice add-on, not least as I still have some old documents on 5.25" floppies. Yes, I'm old enough for that, but young enough to get sort of excited about finding a way to read them again! Hence the question.

My vague recollection, however, had been that the card was only for the SE's PDS slot.

I didn't know that, and you are correct.  I thought they made a card for both.

I wouldn't give up my Ethernet card in the SE/30 anyway...

The 5.25 drive only works with Apple file exchange on my IIci--  Not of much use, but kinda cool to have working.
