So bought a iisi, lc 475, and a bunch of floppies from a somewhat local guy. (4 hours from me) got them delivered today and went to work.

The iisi actually looked very clean and no noticeable damp dust areas around caps etc. she wouldnt power on even with a good psu. So decided to recap.

That solved the power on issue. I got the display to come on, mouse pointer but no floppy icon. So looked closer, and noticed the chips I usually pull were dirty looking, so decided to pull them and clean. Put all back together and still no floppy icon. Weird thing is, she boots off scsi hard drive, and blue scsi. Works beautifully, so why no floppy icon with flashing question mark?? Is that because no floppy drive was attached??

So long story again, recap is only a part of the restoration equation lol

No, you should get the flashing floppy without a drive connected. The SWIM could be bad. Do you have a scope? See if its doing anything. Also is the SWIM getting red hot at all? If it gets very very hot this is usually an indication of a bad SWIM as well.
