Got my HD20 up and running!

Well, after receiving my HD20, I immediately plugged it into my 512K-upgraded 128. It would boot to the HD20 disk, try to handoff to the HD20, and crash.

I plugged the HD20 into my SE, and it worked fine, though. I put off troubleshooting.

I finally got around to troubleshooting it yesterday.

Turns out the person I bought the HD20 from had put System 7.0.1 on it! I deleted that System Folder, and copied the System Folder from the HD20 boot disk, and now it works like a charm on my 128K. As a bonus, though, the seller did include the Mac(App) suite. (Write/Paint/Draw/Project.) I have copies of them, but it was nice to have them pre-loaded. I loaded MacTerminal on it, too.

Congratulations. From what I've read, those can be tricky to get spinning again.

(Actually, I've found that HD failure is the most frequent and most annoying problem that plagues my little Mac collection.)
