Just picked up a Geforce2 MX AGP card for my G4 to try. 32mb. It does not have a heat sink on it. Should one be put on? It works fine in the machine but will it get too hot?

I had one from a PC, it was AGP 4x. It seemed to have not come with a heatsink. if it doesn't come with one, don't worry. They seem to be pretty cool-running chips. It should work fine without one. The only time I would worry, is if I saw a spot that looked like it had one on, and now it doesn't, then I would put a heatsink on the sucker right away.

I have a bunch of GeForce 2 and 4 MX cards for PC's here and none of them has a heatsink or fan. You can buy an aftermarket heatsink kit in many computer shops that even comes with little heatsinks for the memory chips if you are really worried about heat buildup.

my geforce mx 4 does have a heatsink guess its superflous

you could also buy a aftermarket fan if you like the idea of a fan better
