Don't feel bad LCGuy, I managed to also kill an iPod Mini with a CF upgrade. Would love to get my hands on another one to play with.
Same here, except it was a second generation iPod (one of the real old ones). I sheared off the IDE connector while putting the thing back together. :-(

After unsuccessfully attempting to replace the logic board, twice - I gave up and got another mini off eBay. I'd like to think it'll be here next week sometime. And this one I won't kill. If I do - I give up completely.

Why weren't you successful after two logic board replacements? Were they all defective??
I will soon be getting a 4th gen iPod Touch with a cracked screen, and I'd like to fix it myself if I can, but I won't if there's a reasonable chance of permanent damage (this will be my first ever iPod repair). To that end, anyone who would be willing to do it for me, send me a PM and we'll discuss it.

Sorry for the hijack!
